Is it worth it / Should we be worried / Abilene Texas
We are going there tomorrow for two nights on the way to Colorado Springs. Looking forward to seeing the town. What type of camera are you using?
You’ll enjoy it. Breathtaking views all around. Stop at the Mountain Mermaid Brewery there. Their pizza is pretty damn good for not being a pizza place. I use my GoPro 10 as well as my iPhone 14 max pro. Enjoy your visit.
Muy bonito video, gracias por compartir 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 ❤.
De nada. Gracias por tomarse el tiempo de verlo. Tuvimos un montón de diversión.
I live here. Since this video was made there's a few new shops and restaurants that have opened. Also, if you really wanted to go to Cumberland Island there are pet sitter/ boarding options in the area.
Lucky girl! Love it there. Yes will have to do that sometime when we go back. I know the island accepts pets but the boat won’t take you. It’s on the bucket list. ❤️ Thanks!
Me too Russell Hello! Great memories!
I think that was the old jail house.
Wow!
Expensive!
I was there in May. Stayed at Velero Beach Resort, just down the street from Janet's. I loved it! Going back in August! It was Hot!!!😊
Great little place to stay and visit. Felt safe there. We’ve stayed in Punta Cana and this was much better. Enjoy it in August! It’s always hot!! lol
You have to be the first humans in history to make a special trip to limon. 😂
😂🤣😂🤣 You never know what’s there till you get there. lol
@@VanngoTravelers Honestly, when I clicked the video I kind of assumed you were going there to visit someone in the State Prison. 😂 The only place I've ever stopped in Limon is the TA Truck Stop before heading south to Rocky Ford.
@NunYa953 yeah for sure. Not much there. The name sounded intriguing. Not the worse place but not on my top 100 places to visit. 🤣😂
35 more subs and you're there. Congratulations in advance! Im not on the commie social media platforms anymore, otherwise id share
Yes sir! Almost there. Yeah I know what you mean. Damn it just give me some cheap gas and lower food prices! lol
Cool place. Have been through Marathon a few times, never realized it was hidden back there
Ahhhh poor doggie 😢 hope all better.
He’s a champ cuz. He’s doing good now. Hugs to you and Jeff.
I grew up in Greenville .
did yall get a chance to visit Berry College and see Martha Berry Museum, her home on top of Lavender Mountain (the House of Dreams) , the water wheel. beautiful campus. Rome History Museum is on Broad Street. It is amazing!
Wow this video was a long time ago. Yes we did. That whole property is gorgeous.
born and raised in Rome, GA. I use to have an art & craft store where Crawdaddy's was. Now live in North Georgia about 3 hours away. Everytime I go home, it's growing and changing. Tks for sharing,.
Yes! I’ve been going there awhile. It’s been a bit now. Last time we went was when we did this video. It certainly keeps changing. Always love visiting.
Call Luisa at Palm Hills Realty in Cabarete

It’s always nice to see or come back to a familiar place. ❤️
Hey,it's pinky! I met you down there.
I don’t recognize the name.
Fantastic video thanks for sharing with the world.
Thanks for watching! Great place to visit.
I was in Abilene Texas my grandmother and father lived in winters I went to winters elementary and high school moved away to Mansfield Texas when I was 15
Wow what was that like going to elementary school there? Not much in that town. We stayed in Abilene. We enjoyed it there.
I’m so excited to visit next month! I hope you had a great time! Thanks for making this video
You’ll have a great time. Thanks for watching. Make sure you exchange money there. Rates are way better than the airport. Just put out part 2 so make sure you see that video as well. Have fun!!
@@VanngoTravelers is there a bank to get money exchange easy there? I heard it’s best to money exchange at the bank.
Oh then I see you passed by a bank 😅
@lifeoftheharriss6247 yes there is a bank there as well as an money exchange. We did the exchange. It’s right across the street from the bank. I didn’t think of the bank so I don’t which one is has a better rate. It was 58 pesos per 1 dollar.
Enjoyed the video ….thank you
Awesome! Thank you for watching. Great place to visit.
I am a Mississippi native (from the NE hills), and have visited Vicksburg many times...often conducting tours for my high school history class. You showed me parts of the town I never saw. Thanks for an enjoyable video tour. You let the beauty of the place speak for itself.
Thanks. Yeah I didn’t need to say a word. I really enjoyed that town. Look forward to visiting it again.
I think name is equipe. Yes it’s dry but good. As a kid I loved them. Enjoyed video! ❤
Yes! It was really good. Should have tried it with a side of sauce.
Enjoyed
Born in Walsenburg and spent sixty some years living in La Veta. It has become to sisyfied and the artsy fartsy crowd has taken over. I left.
I can totally see that. Damn 60 years! What it must have looked like back then.
I remember the summer dances in Cuchara in the 70s. Good times.
@daibando9893 wow there must have been nothing there at that time.
I was born and raised in LaVeta! It has changed a great deal. I worked restaurants, up and down LaVeta and Curcharas.
I remember Russell Keeling and now so many family and friends are gone! It is a different world. My father still lives there and he is 91 Yrs.
Moss in the trees. Awesome.
So true on gasoline. Great video.
It’s still sucking! lol Thanks for watching.
Did you go inside the old battle ship too in Alabama
I did! That was very cool. Those quarters are way too tight for me. I don’t know how they do for months on end. Takes a special person.
I was in the Hitching Post on the corner buying beer when the space Shuttle blew up ..was only 17 yrs old but looked much order always buying beer for my friends ,lol
🤣😂🤣😂The good ole days
I-20 towards Abilene …Putnam Liquor Stores only use to be in Putnam
Very cool, especially the his and her fountains : ) And speaking of lottery.. a $44 stud tool and $44 room gives me an idea!
😂🤣😂🤣 Hey I didn’t put 2 and 2 together. Good looks. Man we had a great time there. Glad to kiss US soil on the return tho! 😂🤣😂🤣 Tom hope all is well. We might be planning a visit to See Burt and Benny soon. I’ll see you then!
Gilman Paper Mill was the main employer of the town for decades before it shut down. The owner Howard Gilman was a big part of the community and supported lots of endeavors here. Also there is no restaurant or hotel on Cumberland. There is a private inn called Greyfield Inn which is incredibly expensive. I've lived here since 1985 and I appreciate it how it hasn't gotten so crowded like other coastal towns have.
Great info. Yeah that would be interesting to have gone to Cumberland but that would have been an all day affair. Staying in that hotel would be super cool tho. Yeah I’ve been going for years and it has still remained a quiet little town. I’m happy about that! That’s for commenting. Always love to hear from one that has actually lived there.
Just checked the rates to Greyfield inn. It’s a little over a Thousand. Damn!!!
We had businesses in st Mary’s/kingsland a home on cumberland until my husband died 11 years ago. Life estate for his life from eminent domain in 1970s (became national seashore 1972). He was Mr Gilman lawyer. It has grown a LOT, it’s just all spread out.
The reason greyfield inn is so expensive is you have to go by boat. Everything does. They bring you over, 5 star gourmet meals , picnic lunch, bicycles, tours to north end (around 20 miles long), beautiful accommodations. Electric is 50% surcharge and propane, food, gasoline, vehicles everything has to brought over by your boat, ferry, barge etc. they have to employ help and give them living accommodations, etc etc etc.
@cumberlandquiltchic1 I Get it but it still costly. Definitely would be worth it at least once. It’s unique and not cheap to maintain.
I love Key West! My wife and I live up in Palm Coast Florida and we stay in Key West for a couple of weeks each July. We have a Time Share at the Hyatt and have had it for years. My wife's sister and family live there full time so it's always nice to visit the area.
Yeah dude! It’s a happening place. Don’t know if I could live there year round but it’s great to visit every so often. Re-enjoy it next time you come. Thanks for watching and please hit like and subscribe!
Great vid, thanks! Was wondering what you've been up to since we saw you here. Hope weather clears in D.R. for you and you enjoy your trip!
Thank you sir! It’s beautiful here.
Taste me a orange off that there tree
Visit the battkefield park. I used to go there yearly as a young kid, and many years later toured the park with my wife and young son. I was surprised to see so many African Americans there, and learned from speaking with several of them that Vicksburgh holds an important place in history for them because they consider it part of the history and birth of their own freedom since it was the point at which the tide changed for the south, and it was clear that the north would win the war. As a major fan of rock and blues I have to mention the importance of highway 61 which was the main route from New Orleans to Chicago traveled by the old bluesmen in the 30's and 40's. It makes me so sorrowful to know how much history is slowly crumbling and falling into decay and that young people today, both black and white, have so little knowledge of it. I've known black youngsters who can quote word for word the lyrics of the latest rap tune, but have no idea who Lynn Swan, Jesse Owens, Jackie Robinson, Shirley Ann Jackson, or W.E.B. Dubois are. The white kids are just as bad locked upstairs in their rooms glued to their phones and gaming monitors. Is evolution running backwards?
Great info! Yeah sad that nobody gets out much anymore. Kids all live in a virtual world. Where does it all end. Love Vicksburg!!
Very nice. I do videos on the Gulf coast of Florida-mainly the panhandle-and I agree even a year later that gas prices can get in the way. Come see us sometimes.
Yeah prices have not changed much. I think at the time is was more of a shock. Feels like the norm now. Still sucks. lol Will definitely be in touch if we are by there again.
Glad you found our little gem of a town. It's kind of a secret. Not many find us. I wish you had found a local to walk you through our little world. Ypu missed alot of it. And hello Patrick. Your soul shined through. ♥️
We enjoyed it very much there. I’m pretty sure we’ll be back at some point.
this is my home town
I enjoyed it.
You missed us. We were there in February
Hope you enjoyed it at much as we did. We are down in Key west now. Just gets better and better.

The towns original name was Six Shooter Siding
You should visit the cemetary in Macon, Georgia. And Coleman Hill
I heard Macon is changing but honestly it’s one of my least favorite towns. Just didn’t do it for me.
I am a full-time camper van traveler. Great video for security even if there is no campground hook--up or phone service! Have you figuired out how to make it record using motion sensing when your away from the van, or does it constantly recorrd? Also, is there someone that can send me a link (Amazon ?l) to these button cameras and a DVR? Do they make 12 volt DVRs? (or I could use my a/c to d/c inverter).
No unfortunately no recording. This is definitely on the cheap. Works great. Can’t tell you how many times it has help us see what’s going on outside. Still up and going!
Thank You for the tour ... just a great relaxing video too, loved it. I've been around Mississippi passing through many times, love how laid back it is, it's just soothing, folks have that special hospitality to them, the spirit is good, etc. I lived in the large cities all my life, simply for money and jobs ... nothing in any city can compare to the tranquility of a town like Vicksburg. Even though I live in a flashy popular city (Dallas), I envy those who live in Vicksburg and towns like it 🟪
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. It’s just as relaxing there as the video. There is not too many places I like in Mississippi but Vicksburg is charming and is now one of my favorite places.
I can see why it's a favourite@@VanngoTravelers 🟪
Thanks for sharing
Were there no grocery stores?
I didn’t see any there. I believe closest one is in Stamford , TX which is 16 minutes away.
Lived here forever. There's a Spring Market in town! :)@@VanngoTravelers
